Conservation services

Watson Architects provides expertise in conservation and adaptive re-use of existing buildings (heritage-registered buildings and others).  The Director, Andrew Watson, has specialist qualifications in architectural conservation from the Institute of Advanced Architectural Studies, at the University of York.  

Watson Architects has been involved with the conservation and adaptive reuse of both commercial and residential heritage-listed buildings.  The practice has experience with the preparation of Conservation Plans, Conservation Management Protocols and Heritage Assessment reports.  Consultancy services have been undertaken for both local authority and Queensland state heritage-registered places.  Clients have included private residential clients, architectural practices, commercial developers and Brisbane City Council. 

The methodology adopted for conservation projects follows the principles and guidelines expressed in The Australian ICOMOS Charter for the Conservation of Places of Cultural Significance (The Burra Charter).
